Makers of interactive documentary Hollow discuss lessons learned

Yesterday afternoon the makers behind the incredibly successful interactive documentary Hollow got together online to answer some of your questions.

Moderated by Opeyemi Olukemi (Digital Initiatives at Tribeca Film Institute) the Google Hangout involved Director and Producer Elaine McMillion, Sound Designer Billy Wirasnik, Technical Director and Senior Developer Robert Hall and Art Director/Designer and Architect Jeff Soyk. The team answered questions on their successes and failures, the lessons learned, the challenges of participatory media, user experience, tools for collaboration and so much more.

If you weren’t able to join in the Hangout at the time, Elaine has kindly provided the video of it in two parts. Having these conversations available is such a valuable resource for the i-Docs community and helps to demystify the process for those who are new to the field, definitely a recommended watch! Also check out Elaine’s blog for more updates on the project as well as loads of links to things mentioned in the hangout.
